About The Director
Lula-Belle Jedynak (she/her) is a Vancouver-based image artist and filmmaker whose lens captures the subtle poetry of movement, memory, presence and identity. Working primarily through photography and cinematography, her practice is deeply collaborative, often rooted in the world of performance and dance.
Often with a lack of words to process the human experience, she leans towards image-making as an expression. Through an intuitive visual language, Jedynak translates fleeting gestures and embodies stories into still and moving images that resonate long after the moment has passed.

Artist Statement
When an immense wave of emotion washes over me, I feel it in my body, and it sticks in my throat, motionless. This endless anxiety exists while I decide what parts of my identity I want to show to a world where everyone is seen now more than ever, and understanding it will be received at the beholder’s whim. I lean towards experimental image-based mediums where words fail to process these feelings. Growing up in a first-generation, Indonesian-Polish household and a multicultural community, I gravitate towards processing the human experience through movement rather than words.
