VESSEL
Chae Eun Kim

What does your Vessel looks like?
We each carry a vessel of our own—shaped by time, carved by experience.
Three characters, each possessing a vessel of a different shape.
As they move between the past and present, they engage in a conversation about their “vessels.”

Synopsis
In Vessel, three individuals navigate the quiet weight of their inner worlds, each carrying a vessel shaped by time, memory, and identity. As they reflect on what their vessels hold—pain, hope, doubt, and resilience—their stories unfold through poetic visuals and intimate expression. Moving between past and present, thought and reality, the film captures the subtle beauty of self-discovery. In a world that constantly asks us to compare, compete, and conform, Vessel becomes a gentle call to embrace who we are—flawed, changing, and deeply human.

Director’s Statement
Modern society has advanced remarkably, but beneath that progress lies a culture deeply rooted in materialism and constant comparison. People have come to see each other more as rivals than companions, and social media, which was meant to connect us, often makes us compare the highlights of others’ lives with the parts of ourselves we feel are lacking. As a result, self-esteem is easily shaken, and our hearts slowly grow weary.
I, too, came to realize just how difficult it is to truly love myself in the midst of all this. There were times when I even hated being myself. But at the same time, I desperately wanted to break free from those feelings. So I began asking countless questions in order to live my life with more gratitude and joy—and this project is the result of that journey of reflection and growth. I believe that today, more than ever, it’s hard to respect and love oneself. That’s why, through this film, I hope to share the message that you deserve to love yourself, even just a little more.
You are already enough, just as you are. Even if it doesn’t feel that way right now. If you ever feel like you’re not beautiful or worthy because of society’s standards, other people’s opinions, or any other reason, I hope this film encourages you to think again. And as you keep walking with that intention in your heart, I truly believe that one day, you’ll be able to love yourself fully and sincerely.
