Artist Statement

Inspired by the cartoons I grew up watching, animation developed into an art form used to create unique, relatable, and thought provoking, contemporary narratives. I bring to life visually appealing, deeply entertaining, hand drawn 2D animations that audiences immediately resonate with. This fun, yet dark, comedy drama, inspired by late 90’s and early 2000’s teen cartoons, invites the audience to explore an interesting commentary on modern mall culture.

Vancouver based 2D and experimental animator Kayleigh Mark enjoys incorporating her own experiences into the crafting of stories that people can relate to and laugh along with. Her personal style is informed by childhood viewing of cartoons and is simultaneously cute but edgy. Kayleigh studied 2D-Experimental Animation at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, focusing on a speciality in production design. Driven by a desire to portray animated stories, Kayleigh is focused on developing a career in the animation industry.
