Despite Everything, We Persist

Taking a slice-of-life approach to depicting life with intrusive thoughts, this 26-page comic was done with gel ink pens and markers on paper before being scanned and printed in risograph.

“All in Your Head” is inspired and informed by personal experiences, and was an exploration of how intrusive thoughts can effect self-perception, and how little they can actually effect a person’s actual actions.

In a world where religious fundamentalism meets eugenics, a maternity nurse finds herself grappling with her faith and what she sees with her own two eyes. How will her humanity fare when a sudden promotion draws back the thin curtains that hid the worst of this world’s worst machinations?

The setting of “Hypocritic Oath” was born from a bone-deep fear of pregnancy that quickly spiralled into an examination of the horror of having little to no bodily autonomy, and in what circumstances they most likely occur in.
