Timeless Roots, 2025

Timeless Roots, 2025
Timeless Roots explores the intersection of cultural heritage, ecological sustainability, and material innovation through contemporary resin art. By embedding traditional Korean food ingredients such as lotus root, pumpkin, red chili pepper, rice, sorghum, black rice, napa cabbage, and garlic within layers of resin, the work highlights the preservation of ancestral knowledge and the importance of maintaining a living connection to nature in an ever-modernizing world.
This project challenges conventional artistic practices by integrating organic materials into the resin medium, engaging with its unique properties to create depth, transparency, and fluidity. Through extensive experimentation with different pouring techniques, curing times, and material interactions, the work achieves an aesthetic that mirrors natural processes and the cycles of growth, transformation, and decay found in the environment.

Timeless Roots, 2025
Timeless Roots serves as both a reflection on the fragility of cultural traditions and a celebration of their continuity through ecological and sustainable practices. The use of food ingredients not only references the nourishment of the body but also symbolizes the nourishment of cultural identity and ecological awareness, promoting a deeper understanding of how contemporary art can engage with and respect the environment.
