Varada En Esta Esquina, 2025

Velvet fabric, Cotton yarn and oil on canvas 60×60”

My work explores the layered experience of cultural identity, grief, and dislocation as an immigrant. In this painting, I construct a domestic scene filled with familiar objects that evoke memory and longing. These elements become vessels of emotion and metaphor, carrying the weight of absence and adaptation. The vibrant palette and patterned surfaces are inspired by the textures of home and heritage, along with signs of emptiness and change. Through this work, I seek to create a space where displacement meets comfort, and where personal and collective histories intersect in quiet, resilient ways.

“This series became a deeper exploration of my inner world as an immigrant, where identity, grief, and resilience converge.”

I am a Mexican visual artist exploring cultural identity and memory through surrealist paintings. My work is deeply influenced by Mexico’s culture, religion and my own nostalgic ideas as an immigrant. I make use of colourful palettes in my paintings as well as a variety of layered textures and patterns, resembling the art and complexity of Mexico’s culture.
