Phaethon

See it On Campus: Level 1

Phaethon must be a contemporary figure. His tale, an ecological catastrophic myth, uncannily relevant in this post-anthropologic era.

“Phaeton was the son of a water nymph, Clymene, and, allegedly, the sun god Helios. In order to confirm that he really was his father, Helios promised by the river Styx to grant Phaeton any wish. Phaeton asked to drive the sun god’s chariot. (…) and Phaeton lost control (…) Zeus struck the chariot with a thunderbolt.”

The project imagines the epilogue of Phaethon’s remains to become a breeding ground for new material realities to emerge. Through the entanglement of water, copper, light, and burnt materials, fostering the emergence of new material surfaces.
