Sex is NOT Bananas

The Ultimate Sexual Education Kit for both teachers and students!

I have spent the last year researching, analyzing, and attempting to improve the sexual education system here in BC, Canada. Ever since I myself was going through high school, I recognized the limited scope of the curriculum. Teachers are not given any extra help in creating their lessons. Young people are left incompletely or sometimes incorrectly educated. Knowing all the benefits of proper, well-rounded education, I knew I could use my skills as a designer to do something about it. So my project “Sex is not bananas” was born.

I am very aware how awkward and intimidating this topic can be for youth and adults alike. These subjects are still very taboo so I wanted to try and bridge the gap by making soft, friendly, interactive models to help relax classrooms into the very important subject matter.

My Kit includes :

• Anatomically correct models of the male and female genitailia
• Uterus models
• “How to” cards for distributing to students
• Labeled diagrams of the internal sex organs
• 3 in depth, fun Kahoots to help teachers know which topics to cover
• A spacious tote that can be easily stored and shared

I started with a survey to collect information. Weeks of research on curriculum. Textile and material explorations. Then a few months of creating the final literature and models. I am incredibly proud of how it all came together.

After the physical models, my in depth Kahoots (quizzes) were incredibly fun to make. Covering 3 different major sections of what I believe should be included in the curriculum , these easy to play game-afied quizzes take the stress off both teacher and student. You can scan and play them too!
