103” x 120”, silkscreen on paper, 2025

A Place Between, by Defne Su Taslicay explores the complexities of belonging to two geographically and culturally distinct places: Vancouver and Turkey. Guided by the question, “How can I create a reconciliation of the two locations and what they mean to me?”, She weaves together layers of silkscreened archival images to reflect on the emotional and visual imprints each location has left on her identity. With a practice grounded in photography, she merges personal memories with analog photographs, constructing a fragmented yet deeply intimate visual narrative—one that captures the tension, overlap, and harmony between her two homes.
