Background of Eyes
Miriam van de Mond
See it On Campus: Level 1
My painting, “Background of Eyes,” was completed in November 2023.
The story of the painting is about a dream of a person turning into nature itself. It is a nightmare that considers the big eyes around this person in the whole background.
The painting is 60 x 60 inches large, and it is acrylic on canvas.

Miriam van de Mond is a visual artist based in Canada, currently graduating from Emily Carr University.
As an artist on the autism spectrum, her work draws deep inspiration from the vibrant landscapes of her northern Canadian roots near Dawson Creek.
Miriam began painting at the age of two, and her work now often explores abstract representations of nature and scenery, blending her memories of the natural world with expressive forms.
Primarily working with acrylic and oil paints, Miriam chooses these mediums for their rich texture and connection to the landscapes she portrays.
Through her work, she aims to evoke a sense of peace and connection to the outdoors, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and embrace the beauty of nature.
For Miriam, painting is a therapeutic process, one that brings her comfort and joy as she immerses herself in each piece.
She hopes that her art inspires others to seek solace in nature and discover the therapeutic power of creativity.
