Visual Arts + Design
Christina Kim
Artist | Designer
I create visual art by researching Art History, communication design, and art education. My interest centres around painting, print media, and illustration. My recent body of artwork conveys a narrative of Asian surrealism and self-expression.

Creating from a point of curiosity, then growth and progress follow
The artworks consist of paintings, screen prints, collages, and risographs. I am influenced by artists’ books and contemporary art. My research on artist books, print media archives, and paintings informs my practice. I collect information everywhere that leads me to create. I continue to explore the meaning and usage of texts and photographs using symbolism and semiotics that demonstrate insight and story narrative. The collaboration of visual language and imagery contributes to the insight and dialogue of self-expression, identity, and building community through art. Making art allows me to find community and a space to create. The Visual Arts studio practice demonstrates communicating ideas with colours, imagery, and visualizations.
