Free Ride
2025
Mesh fabric, rhinestones, bicycle
Free Ride is a meditation on endless motion forward and a desire for transformation. The repetitive processes involved in this work cultivate a state of trance: bedazzling a bike with thousands of rhinestones, sewing for hours, pedalling forward on a bicycle. Through a groundedness in repetitive motion, wishes can materialize in reality.
The sound of Free Ride remixes a slowed sample of the lyric, “I didn’t ask for a free ride” from Lady Gaga’s Rain on Me (2020), which describes an acceptance of challenge and a persistence of hope. Through the theme of maintaining presence in the midst of transition, Free Ride references this sentiment.

Ёжик в тумане Dress
2024
Repurposed textiles, ink
The Ёжик в тумане Dress was made in response to Ёжик в тумане (1975), an animated Soviet film directed by Yuri Norstein and written by Sergei Grigoryevich Kozlov, a film I grew up on as a child of immigrant parents from Ukraine. The dress features the entire script of the film, written by hand in my mother tongue, telling the story of the hedgehog who gets lost in a thick fog.

Telephone
2024
Ceramic, acrylic paint

Telephone is an immortalization of the iconic cigarette sunglasses worn by Lady Gaga in the Telephone music video (2010), as an ode to the camp aesthetics and ephemeral quality of this influential moment in fashion.
What is a Purse?
2024
Ceramic, acrylic paint, textiles, live flowers
A purse is a vehicle for sculpture to enter clothing. A purse is a diary, a collection of my personal items, a self portrait. Holding any object could be seen as holding a purse. What is a Purse? Asks what a purse can be, and how ceramics can shapeshift and be used unconventionally in the realm of clothing and fashion.
