Visitor Infoproject statement
the other place and in betweens explores the four-dimensional fabric of space and time, where different properties or conditions might exist, in turn creating multiple realities. Thinking of time as a lived experience and the numerous possibilities of synchronic happenings, my thesis project imagines the formation of space and time and our positions within them.

details.
This concept first formed when I was reminiscing about moments in the past, there was a longing to get back to them, But I wondered why, they were not necessarily my best moments, they were tender moments, but I still wanted to go back, maybe for a chance to re-do them, to care about them.
the other place and in betweens, these spaces that I create, are lived experiences. They come from a point of conflict, of turmoil. I think about the time, the space, the people. There are so many variables in one experience, and these work holds that. It holds the memory, or the experience, and the viewers that encounters it.
Through material and practice led research, these works create a visual language that shape an experience that I would like to share. Not necessarily explaining the experience itself, but the emotion and space that I was consciously experiencing. Embedding the work with a surreal sensibility that pushes the viewer into a collective unconscious.
a fun exploration
In the same manner that I find intersections between space and time, I do the same with painting and printmaking. Where I push the boundaries of representational painting, I can play around with print. Refining a visual language that gives, and but has a certain sense of control.
This print project visualizes the time and space that I research, embracing the unknown, or inaccuracy that the concept or medium comes with.

flying through, 2025, 8″ x 11″, etching, varied edition
With etching as a medium, I have taken a more fantastical approach to the concept. Unidentified Flying Objects are these objects or phenomenon that travels through space time, seen in the sky but not yet identified or explained. They are my idealistic way to travelling through time.
Using these UFOs, I arrive at “constellations” between timelines or realms. This fun exploration evidences how I transport myself between the experiences that I envision. With techniques like multi-plate printing, aquatint, and chine-colle, I build layers upon layers onto a plate and then a surface, in both cases, models the overlaps of the time and space continuum.
a soft spot

a soft spot, 2025. Installation in Resolution at Michael O’Brien Exhbition Commons.
a soft spot, showcases the exploration of finding a soft spot. Presented as a joint exhbition with Cecily Gong at the Resolution exhibition at the Michael O’Brien Exhibition Commons.
We re-claim motifs from domestic settings that many of us once know, reflecting on aspects of its tangibility. Thinking about spaces that we exist in, not only on how it influences us but also the space in itself.
Showing your “soft spot” is bringing light to that vulnerable part of your personal history, this exhibition is forged upon self-reflection. We intend to show that it is possible to be resilient through softness. That it is possible to bounce back by being soft, instead of cracking under pressure.

a new beginnng, 2024. 11″ x 14″, oil on canvas.
The concept of softness is a resilient one. We present a gentle approach to a wearying world. There is a need for more kindness, both for one another and for them to themselves. However, it is a point of contention. Because softness is often seen as a bad thing, being soft means that you are not “strong”, that you are easily manipulated or taken advantage of. Our society and these institutional settings we are in influences us in a way to “stay strong”, to aim for greatness in a way that may put others down, we want to show that is it possible to take a different approach.
